Great Exuma Snorkelling

'Westside' Great Exuma, Bahamas

'Do as much or as little as you like...'

Exuma is an ideal vacation destination for sun-worshippers and water enthusiasts alike.

With so much to see and do - from snorkelling and sea kayaking, to sunset cruises and romantic castaway trips, you'll run out of time before you run out of things to do.

Here's a quick summary of a few of the things on offer...

Swimming...
You can spend the day at the villa sunbathing and swimming in the sea, or go to one of the island's many beaches, which are invariably deserted.
With no strong currents, Exuma is the ideal spot for swimming all year round. Almost all the beaches have silver sand shelving into warm shallow bays.
Why not take a 10-minute ferry ride from the Peace & Plenty Hotel in George Town to Stocking Island, in the beautiful Elizabeth Harbour for the most stunning beaches in the world.

Scuba Diving & Snorkelling...
Superb snorkelling can be had everywhere on the island. For the more adventurous, there are two dive centres - catering for beginners through to the more advanced.
Dive shallow reefs or blue holes at nearby Staniel Cay, you can even dive the Vulcan Bomber - sunk for the underwater sequence in the James Bond film Thunderball.
At Crab Cay you can see tropical fish swim about the wreck of the Exuma Pride.

Sightseeing...
There's so much to see, but a couple of must-do's include visiting the museum of the famous Shark Lady on Little Exuma, St. Andrew's Church in George Town and the ancient Stromatolites.

Fishing...
What can we say - a fisherman's paradise. See our Fishing page for more details.

Socialising...
Exuma has no nightclubs, but a good colonial get-together in the hotels takes place most evenings, with barbecues being held at least twice a week - with everyone welcome, and dances on Friday or Saturday nights at the Two Turtles.
